2.6 Bar chart of the lives of Israel's patriarchs
This is a study help to study Israel's patriarchs: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph. It shows a bar chart of the lives of these patriarchs of the Bible, which are mentioned in the first book of the Bible, Genesis.
The bar chart of Israel's patriarchs is followed by notes which deal with certain details of the listed data.
And now the bar chart (the notes follow afterwards):
Bar chart of the lives of Israel's patriarchs The years in the first column are counted from the birth of Abraham. The years of Isaac, Jacob and Joseph are before their abbreviations. One letter, for example A for Abraham in the second column, represents about a time of 5 years. 1 A A = Abraham, was born 2166 BC and died 1991 BC, 175 years old A 10 A S S = Sarah, was born 2156 BC and died 2029 BC, 127 years old A S A S A S Note: This bar chart can be tied directly to our time system. A S According to secular history Solomon began the building of the temple in the year 966 before Christ. A S According to 1 Kings 6:1 the Israelites came out of Egypt 480 years before this temple building began. A S And according to Exodus 12:40-41 the Israelites dwelt in Egypt 430 years. A S So the Israelites went into Egypt in the year 1876 before Christ: 966+480+430 = 1876. A S Therefore the birth of Abraham was 2166 before Christ: 1876+290 = 2166, the beginning of this bar chart. A S And therefore Joseph died in the year 1805 before Christ: 1876+39-110 = 1805, the end of this bar chart. A S So all data of this bar chart develop from the year 1876 before Christ or the years shown in this chart: A S 290 years after Abraham was born or when Jacob was 130 years old or when Joseph as 39 years old. A S 75 A S And Abram was 75 years old when he departed out of Haran (Ge 12:4) 75 A S And from thence (Charran), when his father (Terah) was dead, he removed him (Abraham) into this land, wherein ye now live (Ac 7:4) 85 A S And Sarah .. took Hagar ... after Abram had dwelt 10 years in the Land of Canaan, and gave her to ... Abram (Ge 16:3) 86 A S Abram was 86 years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram (Ge 16:16). Ishmael was born 2080 BC and died 1943 BC, 137 years old. 99 A S And Abraham was 99 years old, when he was circumcised (Ge 17:24) 100 A S 1 I I = Isaac, was born 2066 BC and died 1886 BC, 180 years old 100 A S 1 I ... him (Abraham) that is 100 years old? and shall Sarah, that is 90 years old, bear? Keturah. And she bare him (6 sons) (Ge 25:1-2) A I A I 160 A 60 I 1 J J = Jacob, was born 2006 BC and died 1859 BC, 147 years old 160 A 60 I 1 J Isaac was 60 years old when she (Rebekah) bare them (Esau and Jacob) (Ge 25:26) A I J 175 A 75 I 15 J And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, 175 years (Ge 25:7) I J I J I J I J 200 100 I 40 J And Esau was 40 years old when he took to wife Judith (Ge 26:34) I J I J I J I J 223 123 I 63 J Ishmael dies: And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, 137 (Ge 25:17) I J 237 137 I 77 J And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran (Ge 28:10) 244 144 I 84 J Jacob marries Leah and Rachel (Ge 29:18-30) 251 151 I 91 J 1 Jo Jo = Joseph, was born 1915 BC and died 1805 BC, 110 years old 251 151 I 91 J 1 Jo ... when Rachel had born Joseph (Ge 30:25) 257 157 I 97 J 6 Jo Thus have I (Jacob) been 20 years in thy (Laban's) house; I served thee 14 years for they two daughters, and six years for thy cattle (Ge 31:38+41) I J Jo 268 168 I 108 J 17 Jo Joseph, being 17 years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren (Ge 37:2) 279 179 I 119 J 28 Jo Joseph interprets butler's and baker's dreams (Ge 41:1) 280 180 I 120 J 29 Jo Isaac dies: And the days of Isaac were 180 years (Ge:35:28) 281 121 J 30 Jo And Joseph was 30 years old when he stood before Pharaoh (the 7 good years begin) (Ge 41:46) 288 128 J 37 Jo And the 7 years of plenteousness ... ended. And now come the notes:
Note No. 1
This bar chart shows the lives of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph in a timeline. It shows the length of life of each of them and other details.
Note No. 2
Reading the Bible one can have the impression that Jacob was a young man when he got married, but one has to change his mind after looking at these data compiled here in this bar chart. When Jacob went to Haran he was already 77 years old and he got married when he was 84 and his eleventh son, Joseph, was born when Jacob was 91 years old.
Note No. 3
So eleven of Jacob's sons were born in 7 years, but these 11 children had four different mothers: Leah, Bilhah, Zilpah and Rachel.
Note No. 4
The starting point and starting year is the year when Israel went into Egypt. All the data of this bar chart developed from this year when Israel arrives in Egypt. It is the year when Israel, or Jacob, is 130 years old.
Note No. 5
The scripture showing that Jacob was 130 years old when he came to Egypt is Genesis 47:9. Genesis 47:8-9 of the King James Version reads like this: And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, How old art thou? And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are a 130 years.
Note No. 6
Now we come to an even more important significance of this conversation between these two gentlemen. In an interlinear Bible one reads: "And Pharaoh said to Jacob, How many are the days of the years of your life? And Jacob said to Pharaoh, The days of the years of my camps are 130 years." And then it is indicated that the English word "day" is the Hebrew word with the Strong number 3117. And Strong's Hebrew dictionary says that 3117 is the Hebrew word "yowm." And there the following is found: "a space of time defined by an associated term." The associated term is here probably "years of your life" in the first verse and "years of my camps" in the second verse. The King James Version says in Genesis 47:9, "And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are 130 years." So this is quite similar to what the interlinear Bible has: the days of the years. Also Lamsa's translation and The Amplified Bible have "The days of the years." The meaning of the word "days" here one lets immediately think of the first chapter of the Bible and when there the word "day" is also used in the same meaning, in a sense of a period of time, then the seven days of creation are then also there periods of time and not 24 hour days. And so it is. Also in Genesis 1 the Hebrew Strong word 3117 is used. The interlinear Bible shows that the word 3117 is used ten times in the first chapter of the Bible. So the days of creation can be days or other periods of time, therefore also an eternity or eternities. Therefore also in Genesis 1 we can assume that the word "day" is meant as a space of time, which is defined by an associated term. And the associated term then is perhaps "evening and the morning." This therefore confirms that the times described in the Bible before the creation of Adam are probably times, which are rather meant in a figuratively way. Therefore Genesis 47:8-9 shows us that the word "day," as it used there, cannot be considered as a time in which the earth turns around itself once. And this may also apply to the meaning in which this word is used in Genesis 1.

Note No. 7
And that what we just had a look at, that the days in Genesis 1 are rather spaces of time, also makes the meaning of these chronological tables and bar charts, these study helps here, more clear. They show that the Bible, beginning with the creation of Adam, gives quite exact times which one can understand and can relate to our present calendar. But in contrast to this is the time and are the spaces of time and the periods of time before the creation of Adam not to be considered and to be understood in this way at all. Therefore the time from the first verse of the Bible up to the point in time of the creation of Adam is therefore most likely not at all comparable and recordable with our ideas of time.
Note No. 8
Men exist for about 6000 years and when science carries on ignoring the difference between a man and a man-like animal, then such scientists will also carry on to be ignorant people. For every normal person the difference is clear between a man and an animal, which looks like a man. It is the intellect, free will and the ability of thinking which man just has and an animal just does not have this and when a scientist has difficulties with this then this is just a sign that there is something wrong with him. A scientist is a man who is supposed to have knowledge. The German word for scientist is Wissenschaftler, and that means one who has knowledge. And this, his main characteristic feature often seems to be lacking.
Note No. 9
So when such scientists find bones and teeth which they think come from men then they most probably just come from animal-like men and therefore tell them nothing about the history of man and therefore there is no contradiction to what the Bible tells us about the history of man.
Note No. 10
So what do such scientists prove? They just prove that they are religious fanatics who belong to a man-made church, the church of the people who believe in materialism and who are atheists, the church that will fight all other churches and win at the end, just before they go down to the abyss, together with their leader and hero. And this, the destruction of the whole surface of the earth, they will also cause with their experiments and tests. They fight God and God lets them have what they want: matter, even to the extent that they themselves become matter.
Note No. 11
And what about all the other man-made churches? When one has a closer look at them then they all are more or less materialists and atheists. They all have more faith in what the world and the scientists tell them than what the word of God tells them. They not only get indoctrinated the whole week by what they watch on the screen of their machine in their home, also when they go to church on Sunday morning they get indoctrinated by unbelief and material goals. On Sunday morning in church they listen to their little Antichrist and when the real one becomes apparent then they will have followed him already for years.
Note No. 12
We just dealt with the difference between man and animal, and especially between man and an animal that looks like a man. Such beings were the Pre-Adamites and in order to get some insight into these beings, the following three places should be accessed:
