Astronomical question and answer 234

Frank L. Preuss

Can one see the moon?

Today I watched the sun rise.

The weather was not ideal. It was hazy. There was a layer of clouds over the sea close to the horizon. Then the sun came up and appeared above the clouds. I particularly looked out if I could see the moon. The chance of course was not very great that I would see the moon, but it still could be that there was a moon seen, because today it is new moon. And that would have been, when there would have been an eclipse of the sun, but there was none.
