Pluto – New Horizons for a Lost Horizon - Astronomy, Astrology, and Mythology, 2015
Page 50 Taking pictures
About two hundred days before its closest approach to Pluto, New Horizon grips down, begins to awaken and starts taking pictures and measurements. In mid-July 2015, it sweeps first within about 6,200 miles of Pluto’s surface, and fourteen minutes later within about 16,800 miles of Pluto’s large moon, Charon. Radio Signals pour data toward Earth. They take more than four hours to traverse three billion miles.
